Occupational therapy (OT) is a client-centered healthcare profession focused on helping individuals of all ages engage in meaningful activities, or "occupations," that are essential to daily life. These occupations include self-care, work, education, social participation, and leisure. OT practitioners use evidence-based techniques to support clients in improving, adapting, or regaining the ability to perform these activities despite physical, cognitive, emotional, or developmental challenges.
The primary goal of occupational therapy is to promote independence, well-being, and overall quality of life. It is designed for individuals who may have difficulties due to injury, illness, disability, or environmental barriers develop skills, modify tasks, and adapt environments so they can participate fully in their daily lives.
