Andrea Chartier recognizes the profound power of one’s voice – and personally understands the cost of silence. While pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Jazz Performance from the University of Toronto, Andrea experienced both a vocal injury and head injury which dramatically altered the course of her personal and professional life. This experience only affirmed Andrea’s interest in the field of Speech Language Pathology, yet limited her capacity to continue on her intended educational path. After a convoluted journey through undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto (Music), University of Lethbridge (Psychology/Linguistics), and Macewan University (Music), Andrea completed her Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) Diploma within MacEwan University’s Faculty of Health and Community Studies.
Andrea considers it an honour to empower and equip individuals to communicate effectively, motivated by the ultimate impact these skills have on her clients’ relational, mental, and emotional wellbeing. She believes that a functional therapeutic approach is the most effective and fun way to achieve goals, ensuring in-session work translates to her client’s daily life. With a special interest in supporting adults on the Autism Spectrum, children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech, and of course individuals with acquired vocal and brain injuries, Andrea is passionate about her work and the work of her team.
She invites you to continue this convoluted journey of growth together!
